This session will provide an overview of current available durable mechanical circulatory support and provide an overview of the most common complications of VAD therapy. Additionally, information about patient and caregiver considerations with patient selection and education will be discussed.

  • Recall various devices currently available to provide mechanical circulatory support 
  • Using results from the INTERMACS database, describe the current outcomes data available for durable mechanical circulatory support
  • Describe most common complications of durable left ventricular assist devices
