This session will provide an overview of the tests uses to assess functional status in patients with heart failure. Additionally, therapies like iron repletion will be discussed as ways to improve patients’ functional status.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify and describe three common tests of functional status utilized in heart failure patients.
  • Analyze information from tests of functional status to develop care plans with patients and guide goals of care discussions.
  • Recall how to define iron deficiency in patients with heart failure and the impact that iron repletion has on patients’ functional status.
